Physical Activity and the BioTrainer II

Although it's hard to get experts to agree on anything, they do seem to be in accord on a few points: obesity is rising at an alarming rate in our sedentary population; and, increased physical activity is the way to reverse this statistic. But a recent study by the Harvard School of Public Health indicates that our perception of our physical activity may be a contributing factor: participants estimated their own vigorous physical activity at 1 hour, when they had actually only spent about 2 minutes. And the health implications resulting from obesity are grave: increased risk of hypertension, low bone density, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and even some forms of cancer, among other things.

In today's world, where TVs, computers, and electronic gadgets rule, people are entertained instead of entertaining themselves. "Exercise," like "housework", is a word you don't want to hear! Run 3 miles and what have you got? Tired muscles. Did you improve your health or lose weight? Who knows! You have to do it again . . . and again . . . and again . . . before you see a physical result. Where's the instant gratification we've come to expect?

Despite its bad reputation, "exercise" by definition just means "activity that develops fitness." From computer games to organized sports, from mall shopping to dog walking, BIOTRAINER 2 lets you know how active you are (not just how active you think you are!) BT2 displays up-to-the-minute results on its large LCD, so it's a no-brainer to increase physical activity just by doing more of what you're doing or by taking on new challenges.

BT2 is the hottest mini-motivator around. This pager sized unit weighs in at only 2 ounces, but tells you the only thing you need to know to improve your physical fitness: how physically active you are! You can progress at your own pace, free from outside pressure, because let's face it: some of us are athletic, but most of us are not. With BT2, you don't have to be in competition with anyone but yourself.

And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to use BT2 either: clip the monitor on your waistband, and go! BT2 goes along for the ride, storing up information about body movements with its medical-quality motion sensor for 9 continuous days. Once you know how active you really are, you can begin setting goals. Finally! An easy way for us to motivate ourselves!
